Physiotherapy assessment
Taking a detailed, thorough history and physical assessment is essential. It allows me to get to know you and how your injury or pain affects your lifestyle. Finding the physical cause of a problem and what activities might be maintaining or aggravating it takes time but once we have the details, we are able to work on an individualized treatment plan.
Acupuncture
Using sterile, disposable needles, we use acupuncture to relieve pain and promote healing.
Craniosacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body, to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health.
Using a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues that surround the central nervous system. CST is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, and facilitates the entire body to relax and self-correct.
Manual therapy
Using hand on techniques to mobilize joints, stretch muscles and friction tendons, we aim to increase range of movement, flexibility and strength.
Muscle imbalance evaluation
Often we have muscles that are too long or too short, or too strong or too weak, which leads to imbalance.
Identifying which muscles are out of balance and then doing exercises to correct, we can restore more normal movement and function.
Exercise therapy
We find the most appropriate exercises for your particular problem and then figure out how to fit them easily into your day….just so you’ll do them!
Postural evaluation
Poor posture really does cause a lot of problems. Neck and back pain, even shoulder pain. Just by learning how to correct your posture, you may be able to significantly reduce your pain.
Education
You education begins soon as we start treatment. You will need to understand what causes pain, learn about your injury, how to prevent recurrence and how to modify activities. This is one of the most important aspects of treatment. You learn how to make changes in your lifestyle that can positively impact your health and function.
